Tidepools - The flagship restaurant of the Grand Hyatt Kauai featuring fresh seafood and mouth-watering steak. A romantic restaurant set in little thatched huts over our koi ponds. Reservations recommended.
Dondero's - Italian cuisine right here on Kauai! Classic Italian dishes, and, of course, some of the freshest seafood on the island. Some of my favorites are the Osso Buco and the cioppino.
Merriman's Fish House - Amazing fresh seafood...they can name the boat that the fish are coming off of! One of my favorite seafood restaurants on island. They also have a more casual downstairs restaurant with excellent burgers, pizzas, and salads. Reservations recommended for upstairs.
Keoki's Paradise - A little more casual with more fresh seafood and prime rib! Also featuring one of the state's most well-known desserts, the Hula Pie which is an Oreo cookie crust, a VERY generous serving of macadamia nut ice cream, topped with hot fudge, whipped cream, and more macadamia nuts. (It's all very good for you and does not affect any sort of diet or weight loss program.) Reservations recommended for the dining room. The bar area is first come, first served.
Tortilla Republic - Excellent upscale Mexican fusion. They make excellent guacamole tableside and have a delicious array of margaritas! Also one of my favorite spots for breakfast off property with to-die-for eggs benedict on manchego scones! Reservations needed only for dinner.

The seared ahi plate lunch with wasabi sauce is one of my favorites, as are the Korean-style and avocado poke! Cash only, to-go. Perfect to pick up a lunch to enjoy on the beach.
Savage Shrimp - About two miles from the resort, and great for a casual lunch or dinner. Famous for their garlic shrimp.
Duke's - A sister restaurant to Keoki's with a similar menu. Very popular for prime rib and its legendary salad bar...and, yes, the Hula Pie. Another good spot to relax before heading to the airport! Reservations essential for dining room. Bar area is first come, first served.
Kalapaki Beach Hut – Delicious burgers made with 100% Kauai-grown beef with a great view of the beach to boot! Open for breakfast and lunch. Another good spot for grabbing a quick bite before heading to the airport.
Ishihara Market - A little local store with a poke deli (Hawaiian-style cubed raw fish) with a variety of options from local ahi with chili pepper, wasabi, Sriracha mayo. They also have Japanese-style bento boxes and the ever-popular local-style plate lunch which is some kind of grilled, seasoned meat, 2 scoops of rice, and macaroni salad. This is a great stop on the way up to explore Waimea Canyon...pick a few items and make a picnic.
Shrimp Station - Shrimp. Just about any way you can imagine it.
Hukilau Lanai - Local favorite and consistently top-rated for their fresh seafood and now-famous ahi poke nachos. Books up quickly, so reservations are essential. Live local music nightly.
Oasis on the Beach - Located in the Waipouli Resort across from Safeway. Locally sourced goodness right on the beach. Some favorites are the Okinawan sweet potato chips with truffled hollandaise, Roasted beet salad with li hing mui dressing and local goat cheese, A'akukui Ranch beef burger with tempura-fried onions and the works. Reservations recommended for dinner.
Kintaro's - My favorite sushi spot on the island! Locally owned and operated with some really unique rolls and other menu items besides sushi, if not everyone in your party is a sushi fan. Reservations recommended for dinner.
Pau Hana - Great little local bar with some of the freshest fish on the island as the owner is a fisherman himself! Excellent fish tacos, fish and chips, and fish sandwiches. Good for a casual lunch or dinner spot.
Kilauea Fish Market - Ahi Wrap. This place is famous for its ahi wrap that has conquered the taste buds of celebrities like Ben Stiller and Andy Irons. The key is their miso-teriyaki sauce, which Mr. Stiller, allegedly, wanted to bottle it under his name! They also have some of the freshest, mouth-watering ahi poke I have ever tasted! Excellent choice for lunch.
Pono Market - A local favorite and in many guidebooks, this family-run shop is a must on many itineraries. The workers are all very friendly and helpful in describing local delicacies, so it's a great place to pack a picnic or to fix a poke craving. The adventurous can even try a spam musubi and see what all the fuss is about.
Chicken in a Barrel - A BBQ stand on the side of the road, this is a great, quick option for lunch or dinner. Fall-off-the-bone ribs, chicken, pork, or sirloin with all the fixins.

Tahiti Nui - Now world famous as "the bar from The Descendants," this is a good spot for lunch or dinner. Family owned and operated for years, it's a favorite of locals and tourists on the island.
